Design Portfolio Justifications

Business Flyer

With the business flyer, I went with a simple, yet professional layout. I chose an all black background with a pictre of a luxurious car to accent that. With the high class car, I am insinuating that my business is an upper class business to attract more expensive cars along with high paying customers. I didn't want to put too much text in the flyer because when a flyer is too wordy, if often becomes unclear what the business is trying to convey to you. With this being said, I also made sure the address of the business was on the flyer to ensure that customers knew where to find my business. This flyer could be sent all over the town to promote my business. I also included my name on the flyer to make sure the customer knew who owned the business.

Post Card

The post card advertisement for my car washing services was almost the exact same layout as the business flyer. It was mostly black, with a gradiant swatch to white. This gave it character and separated it from being boring and uninteresting. I made sure to include "Grand Opening" in large letters to make it the main focus of the post card. Also I included a coupon on the bottom to help promote my advertisement. The small picture of a luxurious car is to draw attention that my business is high class, and customers will receive a high class job. The address is also printed on the post card to help customers find their way to my business. There is no guess work in trying to figure out where the business is.

CD Cover

I chose to make up a band for my CD cover. I chose the name "Runway" because it's a simple name which makes it very easy to remember. The theme of my CD cover was airplanes, runways, and flying. The front cover depicts an airliner landing at sunset. This image is very appealing and is easy to spot. The back cover shows a runway with a large number 5. This is also where i chose to put all of my song names and song lengths. I wanted to make sure they stood out, so i went with a bright color to do so. My band name also appears on the back cover along with my production simple, yet professional. This CD cover would be good enough for production if it was not fictional.
